One hell of a good cake!

After a lazy morning in my pj's sipping my pot of tea, I rugged up and headed off on a gorgeous long walk, discovering new places I never knew existed, right around the corner from where I live. Who knew I had an amazing community garden just steps away. Filled to the brim with stunning vegetables and flowers. The bees liked it also!

Once home, I was in the mood to bake (actually, I'm always in the mood to bake) and having picked up my new baby from a book launch I recently went to to for Jane Webster's new French cookbook - Family Ties, I knew exactly what I was going to make.

Syrupy Lemon Cake

Wow!  Talk about a punch to the taste buds.  This cake is sensational!

The texture and the taste from the lemon and the sugar syrup crusted top is absolutely amazing and an absolute must for any lemon fans out there.

The texture actually reminds me of Madeira cake - a cake my mum absolutely loves and what she'd bring home from work for a treat. I always did a little dance when she would pull it out of the shopping bag.
