A birthday soiree......

It's my birthday!

Well, actually yesterday was my birthday but I've been celebrating since Friday.

I've never had any problems getting older, especially as I'm one of the youngest of my group of friends - I've always been ready to add an extra year to my age by the time my birthday comes around. However, this year has been a little different.

The getting older part hasn't been a problem, it's the "what direction is life going in" and the "what do I want out of life while I'm still in my 30's". You know, the usual type of questions.

To be honest, I'm very lucky. I have a great job which I enjoy going into each day and where I've made some life-long friendships from. I also have a little catering business that I do on weekends which gives me my creative outlet (which I crave). However, these past couple of weeks have got me thinking. Problem is, I don't know which direction I want to go or exactly what I want. I guess time will tell.

If it's one thing I've learnt this year it's that when you just start 'doing' the amount of doors that open is amazing - ones that you never even knew were there.

Anyway, here's a little sneak peek at the dinner party I held last night with some of my favourite people - what a great way to spend an evening - loads of food, lots of laughs and great company.

(you'll note some of the photo's were taken at different times of the day)

Entree:

Charcuterie

Celeriac remoulade

Pissaladieres (like a French onion pizza)

Main:

Boeuf bourguignon (no, not Julia Childs)

Creamed potatoes

French side salad

Dessert:

Totally chocolate tarte

Walnut meringues w. home-made coffee ice-cream

Afters:

Cheese with a home-made cherry compote

(which I nearly ate all of before the guests even arrived)

Stay tuned as I will post the recipes for the above desserts soon.

And so another birthday comes to an end. Thank you to my gorgeous friends who made last night so wonderful.

Time for a little reflection and a lot of plans to make - who knows where I'll be this time next year. Guess I'll soon see.

xx
