The Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra.

The 6th chakra located at the centre of our forehead, right between our eyes is responsible for what we refer to as “the sixth sense”.

This chakra connects us to our internal intuition –sense of observation, our imagination, wisdom and our ability to make decisions and see the big picture.

When this chakra is in balance:

We’re in tune with our intuition (gut instincts) as well as feelings of increased synchronicity and ease.  We show empathy for others and have the ability to build trust in ourselves.  We’re able to separate reality and imagination and balance logic and emotion.  When we live with a balanced third eye chakra, we experience overall good health, clear thinking and focus.

When this chakra is imbalanced:

We use intuition for our own personal benefit at the detriment of others.  We’ll experience fatigue, tension headaches and dizziness as well as sleep problems, lack of assertiveness and the inability to listen to others.

Ways to support and balance the 6th chakra:

Food | Think purple and purple-red fruits and veggies (in small amounts), like goji and acai berries, blueberries, red grapes, plums, eggplant and purple cabbage.  Cruciferous vegetables too (especially broccoli), as well as clean organic meats and freshwater fish are all great balancing foods.

Practices |Simple repetitive movements, such as hiking, swimming and tai chi are great choices.  As well as meditation, yoga and long stretches (especially those with forward bends like “child’s pose”) are all wonderful and balancing – anything that slows the mind from thinking and allows us to put the greater picture into perspective, are all beneficial.

Essential Oils | Patchouli, Sandalwood, Lavender, Clary Sage, Myrrh and Frankincense, or a blend of a few.  Place a drop directly onto your third eye or add to a bath or diffuse.

Sayings | I am guided. I am centred. I am clear. I am intuitive.
