BODY: Dry Body Brushing

Did you know that one third of the toxins found in your body will be excreted through your skin?

Did you hear me?  One third!

Apart from sweating it out in the gym (no thanks!) or paying money to sit in a sauna, one of the quickest (and cheapest) ways to help rid your body of these toxins is through Dry Body Brushing.   In very basic terms, you rub a brush all over your dry body, ridding it of dead skin and stimulating the surface.

Not only does it help to strengthen the immune system and stimulate your lymphatic system (responsible for ridding the body of toxins), dry skin brushing helps your digestion and unclog pores.  Final result = our bodies are better able to combat bacteria and our skin looks and feels healthier and more resilient!

Just 5 minutes and a few simple steps is all it takes:

  1. Get naked
  2. Using a natural bristle brush (not synthetic) start at your feet and move in long sweeping motion toward your heart. Always brush toward your heart
  3. Brush several times in each area, overlapping as you go (your skin shouldn't be left red raw, so go gentle)
  4. Once your entire body has been brushed, jump in the shower
  5. To finish, pat dry your skin and apply a natural fruit oil - I'm currently using organic apricot kernel oil

They say to do this twice a day for best results, however as I only jump in the shower once a day, I figure that's enough.

Oh, and don't forget your brush needs a clean with soap and water each week!
